Maintenance Technician

This person is responsible for performing general building maintenance and repairing all converting equipment to minimize downtime.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.

  • Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance employees to diagnose problem or repair machine.

  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.

  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.

  • Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment (based on ability and proper certification).

  • Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.

  • Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, fixtures, and tools.

  • Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.

  • Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other structures.

  • Repairs and maintains physical structure of facility and grounds.

  • Willingly work all necessary hours and shifts.

  • Help maintain good housekeeping in work areas.

  • Practice safe work habits at all times.

  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.

  • Provide own tools necessary to perform maintenance tasks.

  • Additional duties as assigned by management.

Work Relationship & Scope:

Reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor. Due to the nature of the position works closely with the Plant Manager, the management team, all Wisconsin Packaging employees, customers, and vendors.

The measure of Performance:

  • Operating standards - the employee will need to meet or exceed the Operating Standards in the areas of quality, cost, safety, customer satisfaction

    and

    productivity. Such standards will be set annually and communicated to the employee.

  • Personal growth - while the company will provide the tools to assist the employee to grow professionally the responsibility for moving forward lies with the individual. Each year there will be goals developed and agreed to by the employee and his/her superior.

  • Employee relations - through observations the employee will be evaluated regarding his/her behaviors associated with appropriate human interaction, respect, and communication.

  • Creativity - this will be evaluated by how active the employee is in participating in advancing the business through new and innovative ideas.

Education/Training: 

Requires at least a high school diploma or equivalency. A current Lift Truck Operator License is required, along with other appropriate certification to work in certain areas or on certain equipment. Electrical certification preferred.

Experience: 

Comprehensive maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment. Experience within the corrugated industry and knowledge of machinery used in sheet plants. Full understanding of customer service philosophy and procedures of the Company.

Requires skill in:

  • Technical Skills: Requires working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation, product layouts and production specifications, product quality specifications, and quality standards.

  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume, and rate. Able to apply concepts of high school math.

  • Reasoning Ability ~ Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

The use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times. This includes, but is not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel toe shoes.

Production Assistant

Job Description


The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1-year experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably with machine operation familiarity. The tasks vary daily but will include feeding corrugated sheets into machines that manufacture boxes, working on glue lines that finish the boxes, hand labor building displays or assemblies. A commitment to safety, quality and attendance are very important. The job is very physical and standing on your feet for the entire shift is not uncommon.

 

Customer Service Representative

 

Job Description

Plan, direct and coordinate activities of projects to ensure that goals and objectives are accomplished within the prescribed time frame. Facilitate excellent customer relationships and support effective manufacturing operations. Interact with customers, sales representatives, team members, and internal departments to gather information and manage systems for order entry, inventory management, and all customer requests.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Interact with customers regularly by phone, email or in person to develop and maintain an excellent relationship.

  • Reviews the purchase requirements for each job; initiates the process.

  • Communicate effectively and professionally in all forms of communication with internal and external customers.

  • Monitor and replenish customer inventories to level agreed upon by the customer and execute purchases of inventory.

  • Identify issues, specify resources required, evaluate solution options, communicate requirements of team members and review open issues and action items.

  • Manage the collection, analysis, documentation, and coordination of assigned projects.

  • Maintain technical competency and remain current in changes in processes and procedures.

  • Obtain and evaluate all relevant information to promptly resolve inquiries and customer complaints and review with the customer service manager.

  • Abide by all company policies and procedures, including practice safe work habits.

  • Adhere to Wisconsin Packaging Division’s quality policy to ensure complete customer satisfaction.

  • Serve as a liaison to customers, sales, customer service, design, and manufacturing.

  • Maintain regular attendance as required by your position.

Rotary/Flexo Machine Operations

Job Description

Candidate will be responsible for all activities associated with running a 4-color rotary die cutter, including setup, operation, cleanup, and recommending improvements to supervision.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Setup print and die cut sections in accordance with proper setup techniques.

  • Monitor box quality, including, but not limited to loose liner, warp, correct size, and print.

  • Maximize the utilization of equipment by operating the machinery at available capacity and speed. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and meet production goals.

  • Train and assist others with job duties on the machine.

  • Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to Production Data, Machine Operational Status, Safety Data, and Quality Data.

  • Adheres to the production schedule and is available for overtime at short notice.

  • Must be flexible to change shifts, if necessary.

  • Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality and service goals.

  • Reports any unusual scheduling issues to supervisor.

  • Be proactive in the maintenance of equipment.

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
